Restoring a damaged environment and adapting to climate change
In the Diocese of Kagera, in north-west Tanzania, the rainy season is starting later and bringing less rainfall. The area is also seeing increased temperatures and water shortages. Most people in this region are subsistence farmers, and they are struggling with a changing climate to grow enough food.

In Tanzania, the Diocese of Kagera is helping vulnerable people to repair their environment and build resilience to the effects of climate change.
Building resilience
The Diocese is helping local communities build their resilience to climate change through practical grassroots projects such as tree nurseries, cash crops and sustainable farming techniques.
Churches are working with their communities to mobilise their existing resources with the aim of protecting the woodland, conserving energy and increasing food production. Support from the Climate Justice Fund will enable communities to take active steps to adapt to climate change.
