The science of climate change

For some people the science underpinning the climate change debate can be bewildering and at times confusing. The following resources provide helpful scientific guides to the debate.

The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) has produced a useful guide to climate change covering causes, impacts and possible ways of dealing with the problem. Link to main website and

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is an independent body of scientists that explores and document the evidence of climate change. You can read its assessment reports and papers here

The Met Office website hosts a wide variety of fact sheets on the science of climate change as well as downloadable information, such as lesson plans, for teachers in support of the National Curriculum.
